LAHORE: The Senate on Tuesday unan
imously adopted a resolution moved by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq that called upon the government to take effective steps to stop the immoral and obscene material being dished out by the el
ectronic and print media as also the internet.
According to a press release, the motion was passed unan
imously.
Meanwhile, Siraj and Senator Azam Swati moved an adjournment motion in the Senate against the rise in the prices of the basic food items.
In his motion, the JI chief said that the poor voted for the provision of faci
lities. However,
he said that the government was unable to control the prices and the poor were forced to commit suicide.
He said that the poor people paid their uti
lities bills whereas the government was not fulfilling its responsibi
lities. He said that in these days of high prices, thousand
s of workers were being paid Rs Six thousand per month only.
